The Art of Belly Wrapping

  • The Manor Pittsfield, MA, 01201 United States (map)

In this unique and inspiring in-person workshop, we will discover not only the numerous benefits of postpartum belly wrapping, but also the essence of the practice—how it can bring vitality and compassion to a mama’s postpartum care routine. Belly wrapping is a gentle and uplifting wrapping of linen around mama’s postnatal hips, lower and upper belly. This practice is not a perpetuation of the modern trend that encourages a mother to lose weight and return to the body she had before birth, rather it is an acknowledgement of the transformation she has undergone and a gentle holding of the body and the muscles that now need extra support. Belly wrapping can be done day 1 after giving birth, every day, up to 6 weeks postpartum or longer depending on mama’s needs. You will learn how to do this for yourself. Intention and affirmation will be woven into our time together to help cultivate the beginning of a lasting postpartum care practice that mama will surely appreciate and relish.

Here are a few beautiful benefits: provides support to abdominal muscles that may have separated during pregnancy, helps muscles and organs return to place after birth, supports the emotions through the feeling of being held and hugged.

This workshop is hosted by Ayurvedic Doula, Melissa Mello, and is open to conceiving, prenatal, and postpartum mamas. Located at The Manor, 65 Crofut Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
